Welcome to Mrs. Kepley's and Enochville Elementary's Eager, Energetic, & Enthusiastic Learners WEEK OF MARCH 12-16 READING: * Students will work MONDAY on their CONTENT-SPECIFIC WRITING TASK on LIGHTHOUSES to accompany their lighthouse creative project that is due MONDAY. * For the remainder of the week, students will work in 2 centers, while I conference either one-on-one or with partner groups. BOOK CONTRACT: Students will choose from a stack of PICTURE BOOKS with vivid vocabulary to do their next book contract. Students will be required to write a SUMMARY based on pictures, prior to reading book. Students will then be required to read book independently prior to creating/designing a six picture storyboard of their book. Then students will meet with their partner to COMPARE and CONTRAST their picture books that have been written by the same author. INDEPENDENT CENTER: Students will work on READING READINESS ?s for this week's passage. WRITING: * Students and I will read Spaghetti and Meatballs for ALL! by: Marilyn Burns. Students will take their prior knowledge of AREA and PERIMETER to assist them in a PBL ACTIVITY. Students will create a RECREATIONAL PARK based on measurements set forth by the "MAYOR OF CHINA GROVE" (me) ; ). SOCIAL STUDIES: * Students will present LIGHTHOUSE PROJECTS Monday-Wednesday. Students will delve in NC STUDIES WEEKLY passages for the remainder of the week.
