Mrs. Zimmerman-Clark's 3rd Grade Website Happy 2010!!
December was filled with many exciting activities. Through lots of read-aloud literature books, such as The Trees of the Dancing Goats, One Candle, Papa's Latkes, The Story of Hanukkah, Elijah's Angel, Light the Lights, and The Story of Kwanzaa, students learned about other holiday celebrations; Hanukkah and Kwanzaa. Students learned a lot about idioms when they read Merry Christmas, Amelia Bedila. Poor Amelia Bedila, she is always so mixed-up! We also recently finished our read aloud book titled Ramona and Beezus by Beverly Clearly and will be starting on Ramona the Pest. We recently learned about common and proper nouns and will be moving on to possessive nouns and verbs. The writing prompt we are currently working on is "Imagine the snowman you built came to life! Tell a story about what happens." Students are expected to have a beginning, middle and end. The beginning has to include who, what, when and where. The beginning is like top bun of a hamburger and the middle is where all the meat and juicy details should be. Social Studies . Science |
