MATH - Students  are working on developing an understanding of fractions. They will see how fractions and decimals are related and learn the concepts behind fractions/decimals. Once students develop an understanding of fraction concepts, they will learn how to add and subtract fractions and mixed numbers.

SCIENCE - Students are learning about ecosystems and how to describe various ecosystems. They will learn about the plants and animals in different ecosystems and how they are interdependent. We will be doing a lot of activities in class and using our ipods to deepen our understanding of ecosystems. Also, students will be completing a science experiment using the scientific method.

SOCIAL STUDIES - Students are learning about the development of the United States. They have learned about the early peoples, colonies, and the Revolutionary war. Students are learning about famous African American figures and events for Black History Month. Students will complete a project, outside of class, on a famous African American. Every Friday, students will need to turn in a current event article.

Parents, please remember to sign your child's agenda nightly. This is the most efficient way of communicating with you on a daily basis.

Exciting News - We have received our Apple ipod touch cart. Students are using the 21st century technology to further their understanding of concepts by watching videos, podcasts, and using various applications. They also have the capability to read books, newspapers, and other material on the ipod. We are also decreasing our carbon footprint by reducing copies. It's an exciting time in room 212!
