Welcome to the Fabulous First Grade!
Here's what's happening this week...
Bible- We will continue learning about Josiah the boy king and how his workers discovered God's word while they were repairing the temple. We will also be talking about the importance of God's word today. The students have done a fantastic job of memorizing Phil. 4:4-9. It is a joy to hear them recite it. If you are able, please join us on Thursday, November 19th, as we say it in chapel for the Thanksgiving assembly. We are working on First Thessalonians 5:18 this week. Our hymn for November is "Praise Him".

Reading- We will continue to work on sequencing a story as well as learn new vocabulary words. We are learning that there is an order to how things happen. We are also learning to ask ourselves, "What happened first?" and "What happened next?" We are drawing pictures of the things that happen in a story using a flow chart. This helps us to tell the order of how things happened in the story. This week the students will be reading a story on their own and making a flow chart of what they read. We will be reviewing our poems this week. Please continue practicing the decodables that come home as well as other books that your child enjoys. Remember to read often!
Handwriting- We are practicing each day.
Math - We will be working on the subtracting 1 facts, identifying identical designs, counting dimes, and counting by 2's. Our fact assessment will be on Monday and our written assessment will be on Tuesday.
