Welcome to the Fabulous First Grade!
Here's what's happening this week... Bible- We will be learning about Elijah and how he went to heaven. We will continue learning the books of the New Testament. Our hymn for this month is "The Bible Stands".
Phonics- We will be reviewing what we have learned this year: digraphs, combinations, and affixes. Our assessment and our spelling test will be on Friday.

Rafts were needed to rescue them. Reading- We will be practicing our fluency, our decodables, and our poems. We have begun our new reading cluster on comparison and contrast. We are learning that finding the things that are the same and the things that are different about something or someone will help us to understand them better. We are learning to ask the following questions after reading a story and deciding on what to compare and contrast: 1. What is the same about these two elements? 2. What is different about these two elements? 3. What is important about these two elements? 4. How are these two elements like me or my life? We are working with a visual tool called a Venn Diagram. Handwriting- We will be practicing what we have learned this year.
Math - We will be identifying and counting hundreds, tens and ones, writing addition and subtraction fact families, and representing numbers to 500 using pictures. Science- We will begin learning about sound.
