![]() Welcome to Chorus/Music! Course Description: The sixth-eighth grade chorus/music program is designed to provide students with an introduction to chorus and an understanding of all basic elements of music. Students will learn to read and write music using proper musical terms. They will also learn the correct posture and etiquette for singing in a classroom and concert setting. Students will use listening skills to identify instruments and voices and also learn instrument families. Students will learn basic history of different composers of all genres. Grade Weightings: Class Participation 50% Vocabulary 20% Class Projects 20% Tests/Quizzes 10% Class Supplies: 1. Pocket folder with paper inside! 2. Pencil 3. Positive attitude Class Rules: * Respect each other and the teacher! * Bring materials to class! * All students must participate in class! * Take care of special needs before class (restroom, water, phone, etc.) * Adhere to all class and school rules! * No food/candy or drinks in the classroom! My students are not only learning about chorus and music, but about character education and how to respect themselves, others, and their community. I appreciate your help in reminding your child at home of how important it is to respect themselves and those around them, especially their teachers. I will be in constant contact informing parents of how their child is doing in class as far as behavior and grades go.
