Dear Parents,

This week in I.L.A. we blended and segmented words (example:  c-at; c-a-t); recognized and listened for the letter Dd; identified the beginning, middle, and ending in stories; wrote sentences to share information about our classroom & places we would like to visit; and worked with Robusto’s Words (active, gigantic, voyage, gasped, glum, whisper).  In math, we continued to explore weight by describing objects as heavier, lighter, or equal and counted by 10’s to 100.  In social studies, we compared and identified needs & wants; defined goods & services; and brainstormed ways to earn money.  In class the children will be able to earn pennies for great behavior and then they can decide to save or spend their classroom money!  Our highlight for the week was our field trip!  The children were able to experience production, economics, and communities of the past and present.

Next week, we will continue our “Town Square” unit by exploring how technology changes are way of life and discuss the benefits of saving, spending, and budgeting money.  In math, we will define the terms probable and certain and we will work with addition & subtraction.
