I winked my eye, and what do you suppose? A little brown worm dropped on my nose. - 10 Red Apples (spoken): 10 red apples grow on a tree. Five for you and five for me. Let us shake that tree just so, 10 red apples fall below.

- Make an apple product (pie, applesauce, etc). Work together to read the recipe, measure, and follow directions.
- Make patterns with items from your home (ie: penny, penny, paperclip, penny, penny, paperclip...); have your child continue the pattern or create his/her own pattern.
- While in the car or during another quiet time, play a category guessing game where all responses within that category are correct (ie: "I'm thinking of something that is a kind of fruit" - any response that is a fruit is correct). Encourage thinking of as many answers as possible. Some other category ideas include: furniture, vegetables, toys, clothes, body parts, things that write, things to read, animals that live in the ocean, etc.

November Theme: Birds Books: 5 Little Ducks, The Little Red Hen, Duck on a Bike, Over the River: A Turkey's Tale, 5 Little Penguins Slipping on the Ice, I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie Songs: - Owl in the Barn (spoken): A little boy went into the barn and lay down on some hay. An owl came out and flew about and the little boy ran away.
- Feathered Birds (spoken): 5 feathered birds sitting on the door, one flew away and then there were 4. Four feathered birds singing in a tree, one flew away and then there were 3. Three feathered birds looking at you, one flew away and then there were 2. Two feathered birds sitting in the sun, one flew away and there there was 1. One feathered bird looking like a hero, it flew away and then there were 0.
- Turkey Jerky: (Hokey Pokey): You put your right wing in, you put your right wing out, you put your right wing in and you flap it all about. You do the Turkey Jerky and your turn yourself around, that's what it's all about. (continue with left wing, right/left claws, beak, tail feathers)

Make a graph of colors to record the colors of birds you see together.
- Make a birdfeeder by spreading peanut butter on a pinecone, then rolling it in birdseeds. Hang it where your child thinks the birds will see it best. An alternative birdfeeder can be made by stringing Cheerios on yarn and attaching a small bell to the bottom.
- Point out when there are geese flying south for the winter. Talk about why they fly south and when they'll come back.
- Play rhyming games. Say a word, such as "cat" that has a common ending sound (-at, -an, -it, -ing). Encourage your child to think of as many rhyming words as possible. This is difficult for young children, however the practice is benefical.
- Hide an item in a room of your home, then give hints to your child about where to find it (ie: "It's behind a type of furniture" or "It's next to something blue"). You could also use "hot/cold/warm" clues.

Upcoming December Theme: Gingerbread Curriculum: Our preschool curriculum is based on the CT Preschool Curricular Goals and Benchmarks. Through an integrated approach, we focus on all areas of development, including cognitive, language, social, emotional/behavioral, self-help/independence, fine motor, gross motor, creative expression/aesthetic, and sensory processing development.

On Mondays, the morning class will rotate on a weekly basis between going to Gym and Music. The afternoon class will go to Gym and Music on Days 3 & 4, which will rotate on a 7-day cycle. To avoid confusion, students are encouraged to wear sneakers every day.
