The PE Department has confidence in all of our students, and BELIEVES that they can do anything that they put their heart and mind to do. Remember, BELIEVE IN YOURSELF & DON'T EVER GIVE UP!!

There are a few terms students need to know on a daily basis during physical education class.  Terms include PERSONAL SPACE, GENERAL SPACE, HOMEBASE, FREEZE.  Students will participate in fun games, while learning and understanding the importance of these terms.

Each day, we perform a warmup routine consisting of 10 different stretches/exercises.  Students have been given a warmup sheet listing all of the exercises and how to properly perform them.  This list can be posted at home, and be refered to when needing tips on proper techniques & execution of exercises.  Other warmups include performing jumping jacks to vocabulary words studied in ELA, and jogging to the STAR CHANT.

General PE Rules are as follows:
1. Respect all adults, students, and school property.
2. Use appropriate language and manners at all times.
3. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yoursef.
4. Walk quietly and orderly to and from PE.
5. Be a good sport.

Consequences:
1. Verbal warning
2. Think time (5 - 10 minutes)
3. PE Behavior Report Form or a phone call home
4. Star Behavior Report for minor infractions
5. State Behavior Report for major infractions

Rewards:  Fun Friday, Stickers, Teacher Helper, Starbucks, PE Bucks, Toe Tokens for completing laps set as the goal for the day, pencils, mini-notebooks, bags, erasers, bracelets.

GUIDELINES FOR EARNING PE BUCKS:
Students can earn PE Bucks by displaying good behavior during PE class, following rules in PE entrance and exit lineup procedures, displaying good citizenship skills, displaying good sportsmanship.  PE Bucks can only be earned during PE Class.  When earning a buck, the student is given one, and the PE teacher records it on a PE Buck chart.  During the month of May, students who have received bucks shop in our very own JWJ PE Store.  Our PE Store is full of neat prizes, such as key chains, stickers, pencils, wallets, jewelry, balls, photo frames, coin purses, etc.

Dress Requirements: Athletic shoes, shoes tied, which ensures the SAFETY of the children.  Children must have proper support around the foot and ankle to eliminate any type of injuries.

LATEST NEWS:

Kindergarten, 1st Graders, and 2nd Graders are gaining "nutritious" knowledge through the "EATING RIGHT AROUND THE CLOCK" curriculum.  They are journaling by drawing pictures all foods eaten at breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack.  Also, they are instructed on how important it is to eat a well balanced diet each and every day, as well as exercising about 30 minutes a day.   We allow them to set a daily goal in choosing a healthy snack and taking the initiative in being physically active (ride bike, roller skate, play basketball) while at home.

J. Wallace James is planning to create a team for KOMEN RACE for the CURE.  Further details will be posted in December.

Order your STARBLAZER SPIRIT SHIRT today.  You can contact the PE Department for more information.
