Week of the 17th - 21th
Congratulations to Serena for being on the "A Team" and being an "Awesome Author".  Contratulations to Joanna for maintain her lead in First in Math with 3, 034 points.  Watch out for Nathan, though.  He's trying to catch Joanna with his 2,419 points.
Officer Ron Smith will be conducting the DARE classes beginning Monday.  This is a wonderful program for our 5th graders.  Thank you Officer Smith for making this program possible at HTE.

Pumpkin Bread Baking Day will be Tuesday, November 25th.  Students will become chefs for a day and be bringing home a delicious Thanksgiving Treat to share with their families.  I'll be sending home a list of ingredients.  Please be watching the planners for more information.

Reading, Spelling, and Grammar tests from last week will be this Wednesday.  For the next few weeks our tests may not fall on a Friday.  Due to the days out of school and special events at school, they may fall on other days of the week.  Be sure to watch planners and schoolnotes.

 

Math:  Problem Sovling - Translating Words into Expressions, Find a Rule, Solving an Equatino  *Quiz on Thursday, Chapter 2 Test on Friday* 

Reading:  Inside Out p. 146-157.  Skill:  Compare and Contrast.  Vocabulary Workout and Leveled Reader due Tuesday.  *Test Wednesday*

Spelling:  Diagraphs th, sh, ch, ph. See spellingcity.com for word list. *Test Wednesday* Grammar:  Regular and Irregular Plural Nouns. *Test Wednesday* 

*Reading Counts Book Report and Test on the chapter book Indian in the Cupboard due Friday, December 5th.  Be sure to refer to the Book Report Guidelines when writing the report.  Reports must be written in the student's handwriting unless special arrangements have been made.

Social Studies:  Webquest - How a Bill Becomes a Law.  Students will taking an idea through the long journey of becoming a law.  Starting with creating a law they want for their classroom, writing a letter to a WV Congressperson, and following the bill through the House, Senate, and the President's office.  We'll let you know if our Bill makes it!
