Homework News
I have started sending home take home books with your child. Please read these books with your child and fill out the reading log. Send the book back each day so your child may get a new one. Once your child has a complete page of books on the reading log they will get a ticket for free ice cream. Don't forget to practice book and print nightly. This assessment will be here before we know it.
Please also look through your child's BEE book and check their agendas and sign them daily. This is how we communicate back and forth and I like to make sure you are informed on behavior, and any information needed.
Remember!!! When sending money to school be sure to place it in an envelope or baggie with your child's name, what the money is for and lunch number if necessary.

Writer's Workshop
This is a time during the day that the students learn to be authors. In writing workshop students will be working on drawing a picture that is meaningful to them, labeling the picture, and writing a sentence that matches. We encourage the students to take what they know of Zoophonics and sound out the words. We are not focusing on correct spelling, but how it sounds phonetically. Writing can also be done at home as well as school. Encourage your child to look at everything as a potential story! You will be amazed at what they can do!!
November CurriculumWriting and phonics
We will continue to work on learning letters and sounds through Zoo phonics. We are moving away from the Zoo phonics animal names and working on the correct letter names. Please review these nightly with your child.
Play and Learn Centers
Students will be listening to stories about Thanksgiving and turkeys. The students will be reading color words and labeling the color word to the correct color of a turkey feather. They will be learning about Indian corn and how to make different patterns and what those pattern names are. The students will also be matching pictures with the correct beginning sounds.
Social Studies
We will be learning about life long ago in colonial times. We will discuss the type of dress and how they lived. We will compare/contrast that to today.
The students will also learn about Native Americans and the
Pilgrims. We discuss why we have
Thanksgiving and what it means.
Math
We will continue to work on patterns. We will also learn how
to make more advanced patterns. We will be working on counting up to 5, recognizing and writing numbers 1-5. Please work with your child at night with these skills. Math is all around us!

Happy Thanksgiving!
