STDENTS - IF YOU WANT ME TO REPLY TO YOUR EMAIL, YOU MUST INCLUDE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS. PARENTS SHOULD BE GETTING A GRADE SHEET EVERY MONDAY – PLEASE WATCH FOR IT. Welcome back. Please check out the Team page (below) Homework will be posted here along with hints on how to do better at school. Rules for School 1. All Cranston School rules will be enforced, 2. Bring all required materials to class. I will not supply them. 3. All assignments are due on the day they are due at the beginning of class. NO EXCUSES. If you miss an assignment, you are still responsible for it, but your grade is 50%. 4. I will try to announce all quizzes 5. There will be test and projects. They will be announced. Tests will be cumulative and may include any material covered since the start of classes. 6. Participation is part of your grade. Failure to participate will result in a lowering of your grade. In order to participate, you MUST have done the homework. 7. If you need extra help, see me at once. The longer you wait the less chance you have to catch up. 8. You will be given long-term and intermediate term assignments. They will count as a test grade, unless otherwise announced. 9. Grading will be as follows: a. Tests/long and intermediate assignments 40% b. Quizzes 20% c. Homework 20% d. Class participation 20% Disciplinary and academic issues will be dealt with immediately. Please understand that unacceptable behavior in either area will not be allowed. If there are any problems, I can be contacted on my office phone, 270-8562. EXTRA CREDIT: If you want If you want extra credit, here is what you have to do. You must evaluate a web site relating to Social Studies. You will get 10 points on a test if you do this. This is how you go about doing it: (pages linked below) 1. Read the tutorial about the World Wide Web located at http://www.lib.berkeley.edu/TeachingLib/Guides/Internet/FindInfo.html This will give you information about the web and what to look for 2. Read the information at http://www.lib.berkeley.edu/TeachingLib/Guides/Internet/Evaluate.html. This will tell you what to look for as you evaluate the web site. 3. Fill out the Web Page Evaluation Checklist located at http://www.lib.berkeley.edu/TeachingLib/Guides/Internet/EvalForm_General_Barker.pdf. This is a PDF file. Answer all the questions and turn it in to me. HINT: You can find a lot of information about a web site by typing the URL into http://www.alltheweb.com/.
