Middle School can be a challenging time. Some tips to help with this transition are a) to be punctual, b) come prepared - a list of school supplies can be viewed on the gladesmiddle.org website, c) be organized and d) to log onto Pinnacle (grades/assignments) and schoolnotes (weekly classwork/homework/etc.) weekly - both these websites will keep you well informed. See directions on the team letter that you received on 8/20.

Donations of the following items are graciously helpful and contribute to our class running smoothly.

* hand sanitizer * tissues * paper towels

* gently used and/or new age appropriate chapter books to add to our classroom library.

* bean bag chairs

Students will receive a homework pass for your generous donations. (excluding weekly reading logs)

12/1 - 12/5

Homework: nightly read 20 minutes on thurs. write your brief summary according to the Reading Log Code (*for details see 2nd pg of schoolnotes.) Get this signed by parent/guardian. Bring into school friday and place into homework bin. *If any additional hw is assigned students will receive this in class.

Instructional Focus: review compare/contrast and cause/effect

Reading Code: D - identify the Antagonist in the story. Briefly describe why the character fits theis description and support your answer with details form the story.

Mon. students will receive FCAT Prep and Practice workbooks - we will begin working on passages

Tues. all classes will work on TeenBiz * refer to TeenBiz page for specific details if needed (technocation)

Quarter 2 Book Report will be assigned and due by monday, 12/15/08

Wed. & Thurs. Signature Reading & Activote (technocation) and Timed Fluency

Fri. oops forgot Field Trip to Amaturo Theater "Brazilian Voices" those not attending will remain behind with two teachers from our team. They will have class work from all content area teachers to complete.  

Important dates:

11/27 & 28 No School Thanksgiving Holiday. Have a Happy Thanksgiving - enjoying quality family time.
