Welcome to Glades Middle School

An A State of the Art School

Team 6A "The ACES"

Middle School can be a challenging time. Some tips to help with this transition are a) to be punctual, b) come prepared - a list of school supplies can be viewed on the gladesmiddle.org website, c) be organized and d) to log onto Pinnacle (grades/assignments) and schoolnotes (weekly classwork/homework/etc.)  - both these websites will keep you well informed. See directions on the team letter that you received on 8/20.

Donations of the following items are graciously helpful and contribute to our class running smoothly.

* hand sanitizer * tissues * paper towels

We have run out of these items. Your students  use them daily. Your donations will help and are appreciated. Thank you!

* gently used and/or new age appropriate chapter books to add to our classroom library.

* bean bag chairs

Homework: nightly read 20 minutes. Every thurs. write your short essay response according to the Reading Log Code (*for details see 2nd pg of schoolnotes.) Get this signed by parent/guardian. Bring into school friday and place into homework bin. *If any additional hw is assigned students will receive this in class.

To view the flashcards go to the top of the page where the calendar is to immediate left is the word flashcards click on this and you will be able to view the flashcards.

Friday 11/13: Students have received Q1 report cards.  We are rapidly approaching Q2 Interim's. Today every student present in everyone of my class periods, was told what assignments they have missing. These assignments must be turned in by Mon. 11/16.  If you student does not hand in thier missing work on Mon. it will remain a Zero. Q2 onward to the end of the school year late work is unacceptable. Kindly assist us in helping your student become a responsible sucessful Middle Schooler. Have a wonderful weekend. Again thank you for your cooperation.

Week of 11/16 to 11/20

Note to all Parents If you go to Pinnacle you will see Z (zero) for all assignment that have not been turned in. Students are not turning in there work. Overall grade averages are divided as such; Homework is 10%  Classwork 30%, Book Reports/Projects 30% Assessments 30%. By habitually not turning in their assignments your student risks the chance of earning a low grade or worse yet failing. Being responsible for ones education is an important Middle School lesson. By working as a team parent/student/teacher(school) we can guide our students to success and lifelong learning accomplishements. Pls feel free to email me with your concerns. Thank you in advance for your help in this dire matter.

Notice students are continuously turning in assignments without a Heading - without their full name, period, date. This has been mentioned a multitude of times and is also posted in the room in 3 places. Your help with reminding your student to include the Heading on their paperwork will be appreciated.

No Name What A Shame - You forget it. No credit. You get it!

No late work will be accepted starting Q2. As per Broward Schools policy; students will have 2 days to make up the work if the assignment was assigned while they were absent. However, if the assignment was given prior to the student being absent the assignment is due upon their return. Please adhere to this to avoid getting unnecessary Zeros on Pinnacle. Thank you.
