Good Morning. New Schoolnotes is not working properly. I've not been able to enter weekly agendas. The enitre section here was deleted, my ciparts, my messages and my music.

Hence forth I will be witing brief descriptions to help keep you posted, I will be looking for an alternative website for parent/student/teacher communication.

Week Mon. 10-18 to 10-22

Students will be completing activitys in the Publix / Gameworks / literary program called Touchdown to reading. Upon completion they will receive a game card for their work.

We continue timed fluency twice a week. Children visible can see their weekly improvements by keeping a line graph of thier individual times.

Reading Logs are still being practiced in class this quarter. Beginning Q2 they will revert to weekly homework assignments.

Some of our reading strategies learned are; vocabulary, creating Frayer Models, VIS charts, analogies, along with using  context clues; prefix, suffix, root word, synonym, antonym, previous knowledge, key words, key phrases. Last week we added the main idea; supporting details, how do I connect to the text that i'm reading and so forth. By implementing these strategies students learn to become an involved active reader..

Our class novels are The Witch of Bannekar School & Double Dutch. Note, this is in addition to the one they are reading at home.

Last week class size reduction was met, Developmental & Intensive classes are 22 and under - . The students and I are in agreement about how nice it is to have a small group. So to those students and parents just recently entering my class I would like to welcome you. A letter has been sent home with your student kindly read and sign and return the last page. Welcome.
