WELCOME BACK to another year with Mr. Chandler and my school notes web page. The THIRD quarter is going well and students are still doing very well in my classes. We are in the heart of the third quarter and progress reports will be out soon. If you need to discuss anything regarding grades, behavior or homework assignments, don't hestitate to contact me. bchandler@swindsor.k12.ct.us. Keep up the hard work this year! The best way to contact me is through email at bchandler@swindsor.k12.ct.us. Otherwise, please call 648-5030 and my voice mail box is #2127. Mr. Chandler 8th grade Health Classes: Our Growth and Development unit is coming to a close...we just finished discussing STD/STI's and are ready to complete the unit test. All students received a study guide and were instructed to study for the test. Our Violence unit will begin after the test. We will be doing the Silent Protest again this year. Topics will be discussed in class. There are several opportunities to get extra credit for every student. Please see me for details ASAP 7th grade PE Classes: Currently in lacrosse. Students are learning how to throw and catch, as well as scoop, shoot and play a modified game. 6th grade PE Classes: Same as 7th grade: Doing lacrosse and it's going very well. Bring appropriate clothing when we go outside. Thanks!!! General PE Information: Students are expected to change into appropriate physical education attire each day. Appropriate attire includes t-shirts, shorts, sweats, sneakers, etc. The important thing is that the PE outfit is DIFFERENT than what the student wore to school. Students are graded daily on a 12 point scale - 2 points are for preparation, which includes being on time for class, and changing clothing. 10 points are for sportsmanship, following directions and participation. Throughout each unit, various assessments will be given, and at the conclusion of each unit, a quiz or worksheet will be given, which is also figured into the student's final quarter grade. Locks are distributed to all students at the start of the year. Please incourage your child to lock his/her locker at all times. There is a fee to replace a lock but we will do our best to look for it. |
