Welcome to Mr. L's PE Class!
Hello to all! So far, 2nd semester has been even better than the first! We held our annual Jump Rope for Life event and raised almost $10,000 this year!! Great job to all who participated! The prizes for those who DID participate have arrived and I will be passing them our during class time. ATTENTION 3rd-5th GRADERS!!! We are starting our Fitness Gram testing and so for the next 3-4 weeks BE SURE TO WEAR TENNIS SHOES and COMFORTABLE CLOTHES to PE!!! The Fitness Gram test is just a basic fitness test that is state mandated for all 3rd-12th graders in Texas. The test is a health-related assessment that uses criterion-referenced standards, called Healthy Fitness Zones, to determine students' fitness levels based on what is optimal for good health. If you would like to read a little more about the Fitness Gram, you can go to http://www.fitnessgram.net . What we are currently learning in PE... K- Upperbody unit- We are climbing the "Decision" wall (a.k.a. Rock Wall) as well as playing parachute games. 1st and 2nd- We are finishing up our hand dribbling and passing unit (basketball) and will hopefully finish out the year with Scoop Ball and soccer. We have been having a great year so far. I am so thankful to be here at Roberts. The students are fantastic and I really enjoy them in PE class. Let's finish the year strong! Remember, I only have 3 rules for the simple fact that they are easy to remember and anything that could ever happen falls under one of these 3 rules. The rules are: 1. Follow Directions 2. Respect Others (i.e. Don't talk when others are talking, keep all negative comments to yourself, Treat others like you would like them to treat you!) 3. Have Fun! Since I am a huge baseball fan, I follow the 3 strikes and you're out theory. The 3 strikes are listed as follows: Strike 1- Verbal Warning Strike 2- 2 to 3 minute timeout to think about why you are over there. Strike 3-You are out. Student will sit out of PE for the rest of the day. Depending on the infraction will depend on whether or not it needs to go further than the third strike. One of the things I care most about is the students having a good time in PE. I enjoy having a good time and I feel like the students come in to PE to have a good time as well. Now, that does not mean they are not learning anything. Every game or activity we play in PE class is done for a reason. They are as follows:
I feel like this year has gone great so far! I really feel like this has been and will continue to be a very successful year in Roberts PE! Thank you so much and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask! Mr. Zach Lytton Get to know your PE Teacher - I was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas (sorry everyone, that means I am a HUGE Jayhawk fan!!!) - I graduated from Oklahoma Christian University in 2006 with a degree in Physical Education. - I was a Graduate Assistant basketball coach for the Oklahoma Christian Women's basketball team for 2 seasons. - This is my second year of teaching, first in Houston. I taught in Arkansas last year because my wife was finishing up Graduate School. If there is anything else you would like to know, just ask! Thank you and I know we are going to finish the year on a FANTASTIC note! |
