Welcome to Mrs. Massey's fifth grade school notes. If you need to get in contact with me, please call me at 704-278-2131, extension 243. It is extremely important that your child does all his homework and continues to do his very best. Weekly assignments given to your student include Spelling workbook pages given on Tuesday. Students are expected to READ thirty minutes every night, 5 nights a week. This is especially important for students who are reading below 5th grade level. Please assist your child with this reading if he/she is reading below a 5th grade level. In addition, a weekly EOG preparatory reading or math worksheet will be in you child's take-home folder. This will give students as well as parents an idea of what to expect on the reading and math EOG. Some tips that may help encourage your child to read are as follows:
Please work with your child in learning his/her multiplication tables. They should know through their ten times tables coming into fifth grade and should be working on their elevens and twelves.
