Sept 29 / Wednesday

Civics:  Students will memorize and recite the Preamble to the Constitution for a grade. Last day to recite is Oct. 7. No other homework in Civics.

Language: Students have a writing assignment that is due Oct. 7. The brainstorming for the essay is due tomorrow. We will start rough draft in class tomorrow.

 



 

Sept 28 / Tuesday

Civics:

All three blocks have to study Chapter 3 Section 2 pgs. 55-59 and do Section Assessment pg. 59, 1-6.

Quiz on Section 2 at end of class.

 

 

Sept 27  /  Monday

Civics:

All three blocks have a quiz on Chapter 3, Section 1. (pgs 52-54)

There will be quizzes on Wednesday and Friday on Chapter 3 Sections 2 and 3 respectively.

Language:

Starting tomorrow all three blocks will have a writing assignment that deals with the class book that has been read to students. The topic is bullying. I will hand out a detailed assignment and it will be due Oct. 7 final copy.

Civics:

All three blocks have a Chapter 2 Test tomorrow (Wednesday).

Finish the Chapter 2 Assessment pg. 48, 1-18 and the Practice Test.

Quiz on Chapter 2 Section 2.

Civics:

Chapter 1 Test that counts double tomorrow. Study all three sections of the chapter and study the key terms.

No Language homework.

Next shipment of candy bars will be in on Wednesday if all goes well in shipping.

Do Chapter 1 Section 3 Assessment, pg. 23, 2-6.

Study vocabulary words and be prepared for two quizzes on Section 3 and the given vocabulary words.

Civics:

All three blocks have to study Chapter 7, Section 2 (pgs. 171-174) and do Section 2 Assessment 1-6 on pg. 174. We will take a quiz on this section tomorrow as well after checking the homework.

Also the short story  on "How a bill becomes a law" is due tomorrow. This assignment has been out for two weeks.

No Language homework for tomorrow.

 

 

 

Wednesday / January 6

Civics:

All three blocks have a Chapter 5 Test tomorrow.  This is a double grade. All students have review work and a practice test to do as preparation for the test.

 

 

 

 

Thursday / December 10

Civics:

All three blocks have homework. Do Chapter 5, Section 1 Assessment pg. 124, 1-6.

Quiz on Section 1 after checking homework and answering questions.

No Language homework unless you haven't turned in your short story.



 

 

 

Monday / December 7

Civics:

All three blocks have a Chapter 4 Test tomorrow.

Language:

The rough draft for the short story assignment is due tomorrow. We will have editing groups tomorrow and the final rough draft needs to be ready to type Wednesday.

 

 

 

Wednesday  /  December 2

Civics:

All three blocks have Chapter 4, Section 4 Assessment pg. 115, 1-6 for homework.

Also there is a quiz on Section 4 after we check homework and discuss.

Language:

All three blocks need to work on their short story rough drafts which are due Monday of next week for group editing. Final rough drafts are due Dec. 9 so we can type them in the computer lab.



 

 

Monday / November 30

Civics:

All three blocks have homework and a quiz on Chapter 4, Section 3. The homework is the Section Assessment on pg. 112, 1-6. Quiz is after checking homework and answering questions.

Language:

Students need to brainstorm and think about characters, setting, theme and plot/conflict for a short story writing assignment that starts tomorrow. The rough draft is due Wednesday, Dec. 9. We will work on this assignment some in class but students are asked to work at home as well. Typed final copies are due Dec. 14. This writing assignment is weighted three grades for Language class.



 

November 18 / Wednesday

Civics:

All three blocks have homework and a quiz tomorrow. The homework is Chapter 4, Section 1 Assessment pg. 101, 1-6. Also study for the quiz on Section 1. Study key terms.

Remember we have a fieldtrip to the Courthouse on Friday. Remember to turn in fieldtrip form and have money for lunch.

No Language homework.

 

November 16 / Monday

Civics: 

All three blocks have a Chapter 3 Practice Test to finish (using the book)  and they need to study for a Chapter 3 Test for tomorrow.  This counts double grade.

Also students have permission slips to fill out for Friday's fieldtrip to the Giles Courthouse. This is the last attempt for this!! Everything should be fine to go this time. Students need to be at school before 8:30 on Friday as we will leave the school at 8:35 AM. Students need money for lunch that day.

Language:

All three blocks have their corrected DOL's and can study for a test on Wednesday.



 

 

November 10 / Tuesday

No homework tonight. We will be covering Chapter 3, Section 3 tomorrow in Civics. We will also be studying about Veterans Day.

 

November  9 / Monday

Civics:

Do Chapter 3, Section 2 Assessment pg. 59, 1-6. We will check tomorrow. Also study for a quiz on Section 2 for tomorrow. It is important to reread the section and study the key terms.

No Language homework.

 

 

 

Monday / November 2

Civics:

Finish Chapter 16 Practice Test. Study three sections from Chapter 16. Also study the key terms for each section. Chapter 16 Test is tomorrow.

There is no Language homework.

 

Monday / Oct. 26

Civics:

All three blocks have Chapter 16, Section 2 pg. 373,1-6 for homework. Also study for a quiz on Section 2 for tomorrow.  Also remember to bring in fieldtrip permission form ASAP.

Language:

No homework



 

 

 

Wednesday/ Oct 21

There is no homework for Civics or Language today.

H1N1 shots will be given for those who signed up on Friday. They didn't have time to get to Eastern today. We have sent home a pink sheet with details.

Civics fieldtrip to the Giles Courthouse and a trial has been moved to Thursday, Oct. 29.

Report cards were handed out today.

Remember to sign up for a parent conference if you desire one. Students have the forms.



 

 

 

 

Monday / Oct. 19

Civics:

All three blocks have to finish the practice test and study for the real Chapter 15 Test for tomorrow.

The fieldtrip to the Courthouse has been moved to Oct. 29. I'll send out new permission forms next Monday.

Wednesday / Oct. 14

Civics:

All three blocks have a quiz on Chapter 15, Section 3  (pgs. 352-358) tomorrow.

I will be sending home a permission form for a fieldtrip to the Giles Courthouse for next Wednesday (Oct. 21).

Language:

All students have a DOL test Friday and have their corrected sentences.



Thursday/ Oct. 8

Civics:

All three blocks have a quiz on Chapter 15 Section 1 (pgs. 344-347). Finish Section 1 Assessment on pg. 347 if not finished in class.  If you have not memorized or recited the Preamble to the US Constitution tomorrow is the last day to earn a 100.

No Langauge homework for tomorrow.




 

 

October 5 / Monday

Fieldtrip to Mt. Lake tomorrow. Need a packed lunch and drink. May be cold early in the day.

Civics:

Due Wednesday, all three blocks have Chapter 3, Section 1 pg. 54, 1-6.  Quiz as well.

 

 

October 1 / Thursday

Civics:

Block 3 has a Chapter 2 Test. Study notes and key terms.

Language Arts:

All three blocks need to have their final copy of the "Bullying" essay ready to type and hand in tomorrow. This is a double grade assignment. We will type in the computer lab tomorrow during class period.

 

 

Sept 30 / Wednesday

Civics:

Blocks 1 and 2 have a Chapter 2 Test tomorrow. This is a double grade.

Block 3 has to finish Chapter 2 Review pg. 48, 1-18.

Language Arts:

All three blocks need to finish their rough drafts of the "Crash" bullying essays for tomorrow. The final copy (typed) is due Friday afternoon.

There will be no DOL test this week due to the writing assignment.

Note:  The school has started a cookie dough and Christmas items fundraiser. Any items that a seventh grader sells will result in the 40% profit going to their own trip account.

 

 

Sept 24 / Thursday

Civics:

All three blocks have a quiz on Chapter 2 Section 2. Study definitions of key terms and also go over study notes.

Language Arts:

All three classes have a DOL test tomorrow. Use corrected sentences to study.

All candy bars have been dispensed. Thanks for the great job selling them!

 

 

Sept 23 / Wednesday

Civics:  All three blocks have Chapter 2 Section 2 Assessment pg. 38, 1-6 for homework. Also study for a quiz on Section 2.

Language Arts:  DOL corrections have been made and students have a test Friday.

 

Sept 21 / Monday

Civics:

All three blocks have Chapter 2 , Section 1 Assessment pg. 32, 1-6. Study key terms and the study notes. Be ready for a quiz on Section 1.

Students have all their graded quizzes and tests in their Civics notebooks. Mid-six weeks reports will be given out Wednesday.

Next shipment of candy bars will get here Wednesday or Thursday.

 

 

 

Sept 17 / Thursday

Civics:

All three blocks have to finish Chapter 1 Review pg. 24, 1=18 and also the Chapter 1 Form A practice test. After checking these tomorrow we will have a Chapter Test that counts double. Study!

Language:

No homework. We will correct DOL's and take test early next week.

 

 

Sept 15 / Tuesday

Civics:  Siudy 10 words and their definitions for a quiz. Also study notes and section 3 in the text to be ready for a quiz. This applies for all three blocks.

Language:  Some students need to finish a writing assignment that was given yesterday and should have been in Tuesday.

 

 

Sept 10 / Thursday

Civics:

Blocks 1 and 2 have to do Chapter 1, Section 2 Assessment pg. 17, 1-6. Also study for a quiz on Section 2.

Block 1 has no homework.

Language:

All three blocks have a DOL test tomorrow. Students have the sentences and the corrections.

 

 

Sept. 9 / Wednesday

Civics: 

Blocks 1 and 2 have no homework.

Block 3 needs to do Chapter 1, Section 1 Assessment pg. 12, 1-3. Do definitions for number 1 instead of sentences. Also study for a quiz on Section 1 for tomorrow.

Language: 

All three blocks have a DOL test Friday.

Note:  We have ordered another 50 cases of candy bars. They should be in next Wednesday.  All cases have presently been distributed from the first order. 


Sept 8 / Tuesday

Civics:

Blocks 1 and 2: Do Chapter 1, Section 1 Assessment 1-6. Study for a quiz on Section 1. Use study notes, section 1 in the text and key terms definitions.

Block 3: No homework

Language:

Quiz on DOL's Friday for all three blocks.

 

 

Sept 2 / Wednesday

Language:  No homework.
