Table of contents for their notebook. We will number their papers and add them as an entry in their table of contents TOGETHER on the projector. It will be each students responsibility to maintain a current and organized binder at all times. If you stay with me and pay attention in class, this should be a very easy task. Language Arts materials: (1) Language Arts binder (2 or 3 inch works best) college ruled notebook paper - students will need to keep this in the back of their binder as they will use it all of the time. If you did not do your homework then you will need to sit in your seat and complete it while everyone else is studying. Study using your Cornell Notes 1/10 - Tuesday's Lesson Plans:Pass out Entry #18 and introduce our first three types of poetry - acrostic poetry, synonym poetry and antonym poetry. These notes are completed Cornell Notes style so the kids will be asked to complete sections A & B as well as creating their own poems. Homework: Entry #18 - Sections A & B as well as three original poems following very specific guidelines. Week #17 and #18 Reading logs are due 1/19 1/11 - Wednesday's Lesson Plans: Today we will be introduced to Haiku poetry in class. I will have the kids work in groups. Each group will be given several Haiku poems and they need to work together to determine why they would be classified as a Haiku. Following this activity the kids will be given a Haiku wksht so work on their own Haiku poems - Entry #19 Homework: Entry #19 and reading logs. Poetry Quiz on 1/19 1/12 - Thursday's Lesson Plans:Today the kids will be introduced to four new types of poetry: Free verse/ List/ Concrete and Narrative poems - Entry #20 The notes will be given to the kids in Cornell Note form so they will be responsible for sections A & B as well as the individual poems. Homework: Entry #20 - Sections A & B and write your own poems.
