2/12 - 9:30  - Fieldtrip to go see The Lightning Thief  :)- We have a special showing that is being given at a local theater here in Raleigh for the 6th grade students at Daniels. Permission slips have been sent home. The cost is $14 (cash) and that includes a drink, popcorn, candy and price of admission as well as the bus trip there. All students attending must have a signed permission slip or they may not attend. If your child has has OSS or ISS between January 4th and Febrary 12th then they also may not be allowed to attend.

Monday 1/25 - No School - Teacher Workday

Tuesday 1/26 - Pass out entries # 46 - 51. Today I will give the kids all the materials that they will need for the first three chapters of the next novel that we will be reading - Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry. Entry #27 has detailed lesson plans and guidelines for the kids to follow during the next week of work. Today we went over all of these entries, assigned books for periods 1 & 5 and spent the remainder of the period working on our see it, say it vocab wksht.

Homework: - There will be no reading logs during this unit of instruction since we will be doing a tremendous amount of reading in class.

                     The kids should get Entry #46 (LA interim) signed and return it tomorrow as well as finish Entry # 49 - the see it, say it pkt. Please have your child read over Entry #47 with you as well. I want to make sure that they understand how much class time they will be given to complete their work. The kids will really have to pace themselves during this unit of instruction.

Wednesday/ Thursday/ Friday/ Monday (1/27 - 2/1) - Begin reading chapters 1-3. Fill out character descriptions and answer questions as you go.

Homework: All entries 47,48,50,51 will be due on Thursday 2/4 (Entry #50 should only be filled out for the characters that you have been introduced to at this point.)

Tuesday 2/2 - Media Center book check out and chapters 1-3 partner story & vocabulary review

Homework: Chapter 1-3 test tomorrow - Use Entry # 47-51 to prepare.

Wednesday 2/3 - Early Release Schedule - All periods will be watching the social studies film - Joan of Arc.

Homework: Make sure you have all of you entries to turn into class tomorrow - Entry #47, 48, 50 & 51. Ch 1-3 test will be tomorrow as well. Enjoy your early release from school :)

Thursday 2/4 - Today we are running on a one hour school delay and an afternoon assembly schedule so we will just try to get as much work done in the time that we have. This is the last day that the kids will have to complete their four entries - #47,48,50 & 51. Ch 1-3 test will be tomorrow. Those four entries are due tomorrow as well.

Friday2/5 -  Chapter 1-3 test today. When the children walk into class I will have four different signs set up for each of the entries that are due. The kids should double check to make sure that they have their names on all of their papers - I have a lot of papers in the No Name, No Credit basket right now. Papers should be placed in the proper stack and then the kids will need to return to their seats and get ready for their ch 1-3 test.

Monday 2/8 - Pass back Entry # 47, 48, 50 & 51. Pass out Entry # 52 - Chapter 1-3 Outline & discuss in class. Pass back Entry # 53 - Ch 1-3 Test.Pass out Entry #54 - Chapter 4&5 Vocab and go over background information for the next couple of chapters.

Homework: None

Tuesday 2/9 - Read chapter 4 - p 69-101. Media Center - booki check out at the end of the period.

Homework: Make flashcards for new vocab words. Ch 4 & 5 Test on Monday 2/15

Wednesday 2/10 - Read chapter 5 in class.  - Entry #54 & study for ch 4 & 5 test (Vocabulary words) (You will have a substitute teacher this day)

Thursday 2/11 - Today you will get the entire period with the book to work on Entry # 55 - Chapter 4 & 5 questions. Once you finish you may use your flashcards to get up with a studybuddy and prepare for your test on Monday.

Homework: finish Entry #55 - ch 4/5 questions if not finished in class. Study for ch 4 & 5 test on Monday.

Friday 2/12 - Fieldtrip to see The Lightning Thief - Compare & contrast activity in the afternoon.

Homework: Ch 4 & 5 Roll of Thunder Test on Monday 2/15

Monday 2/15 - Ch 4 & 5 Test Today. The test will cover both vocab as well as content.
