March 15-19 ELA In Reading this week we are monitoring our reading to make sure we are understanding what is read. Vocabulary (the test is this week): Debate- people take different sides on something and talk about it Granting- allowing or giving permission for someone to do something Officials- people who are elected and have power in government Representation- the officials we elect are our representation in government Legal- allowed by law Justice- fairness or when the right thing is done Govern- provide leadership for or be responsible for an office in government Candidate- someone who tries to get elected to a job in government Politics- describes the activities that have to do with government Authority- the right or power to enforce laws or rules
In English, we are focusing on the brainstorming portion of writing. We will be brainstorming on different topics and next week we will complete the process on one of the topics. Instead of phonics this week, we are reviewing synonyms, antonyms, homophones and learning about multiple meaning words.
Math We are continuing to learn about measurement. Last week we learned about linear measurements. This week our focus is on reviewing temperature, area, perimeter, and weight. We will have a test on Wed. of this week. Beginning Thursday, we will look at capacity.
Social Studies We are finishing our lesson on the levels of government and citizenship. The students have a study guide that we are answering and the test is scheduled for Thursday.
