USIE CREW’S NEWS - Week of Oct. 12-16

AHOY, Mateys!!!!        Captain’s Log – smooth weather – no storms in sight – must reward the crew with a “boo- boogie”

 

Social Living/Science This week we will continue to talk about living things and non-living things.  We will also discuss how we are like animals and plants.

 


Language Arts -


Poem – pumpkin eyes

Big Book – Building Buddy

Sight Words – look, like

Comprehension skills – ask questions


Phonics skills – phoneme matching

Letters of the week – b, f

 

Word Family – “-ook” (book, cook, look, took, hook, nook, shook)


 

math – review and retest

Use a number line; write #’s 0-10: collect and organize data in a simple bar graph using pictures or objects.

Student workbook (SWB) pages 101 - 104. 

 

Other Scholastic book orders due Tuesday Oct. 13

Guided reading - Reading books are going home starting today.  Please take care of these books – damaged or lost books will be $5 each to replace.  Read the instructions carefully on the top of the reading log.  Students should read for 15-20 minutes each night. They can read their reading books and the books we have been making in class which should be in their shoebox library. 

Students should also be practicing their sight words each night.

Oct. 22 – Field Trip to pumpkin patch – money and permission slips due

Oct. 26 – no school – Fall Break
