Mrs. Hill's Sixth Grade Team
I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and joyous New Year! Students return to school on Tuesday, January 3rd!
- READING-
- We will take our test on Unit 3 the week we come back and be reviewing skills in reading. We finished reading Hatchet before Christmas and most students can take the AR test after the holidays to start out the nine weeks with AR points! It is worth 7 points!
- MATH-
- We will be dividing fractions the week we come back after Christmas then we will begin on Chapter 9 which is Geometry! To get everything finished before SATs in April, we will NOT be giving math tests every Friday but will wait after we finish a section. We will also be beginning some review each day.
- LANGUAGE-
- We will be working on writing our pen pals to explain what we do in one whole day. Students will choose a day and write down everything they do, everywhere they go, everything they eat, etc. that day. We will send these to our pen pals and may even make them into a book of some kind to send. I know our pen pals would love to read what our days are typically like! We also have a grammar focus each week. Our next focus is subject and object pronouns.

SCIENCE and S.S.-
Our annual science fair has been planned for February 17th. All 6th graders are REQUIRED to participate by completing a project by themselves. Look for notes about the science fair coming home soon after we come back from Christmas. We will work on the project boards in class but students are also expected to complete the actual experiment at home. They will have to purchase their own three panel display board. This is a HUGE project that takes a LOT of time and effort. All grades in science will come from this project in the next nine weeks.
