GRADE 4 News and Notes— FEB. 6, 2012 UPCOMING SCIENCE TEST— TUESDAY—Feb. 14 We are finishing up our chapter on Water. We will be reviewing and going over concepts and vocabulary as well as Science Experiments we have done. IMPORTANT! Read and review from these pages: START: D26 –to the end of the chapter—D58 Vocabulary --It would be helpful to make study cards or type up a list or make a quiz on these: VOCAB. Study the words only until page D45. currents –Large streams of water that flow in the ocean. There are deep ocean current and surface currents tide—rise and fall of ocean water levels. These are caused by pull of gravity on the side of the earth facing the moon. There are high tides and low tides. wave—the up-and–down movement of water. erosion— When the soil, sand, gravel , and rocks are carried out to sea. The coastline moves inland. deposition— When waves deposit soil, sand, gravel, and rocks from the shore to other places. water table—upper area of groundwater runoff—water that flows over Earth’s surface that doesn’t flow into the round. It usually ends up in gutters, lakes, or rivers. drought—lack of precipitation over a long period of time floods—great flows of water over lands that are usually dry.
