Science:
The class is working on the scientific method, specifically measurement and observation. We are enjoying our new text books as we continue to study earth sciences.  Reading from an informational text, taking notes and summarizing are additional skills we are working on.

Math:
Your child should be able to complete an addition and subtraction sheet with one hundred facts in 3-5 minutes with a minimum of 80% accuracy and a 36 problem quiz in 2 minutes or less. Students who do not know their facts have difficulty completing assignments on time. We are working on rounding and estimating with large  numbers in addition and subtraction.   Making change with the fewest amount of coins and counting back that change is one of our next objectives.  Please continue to practice at home.

We are halfway through multiplication.  Please continue to review 0-5 as we introduce 6-10.

I teach in a spiral pattern, making an effort to review and use what we have learned as well as introduce new material every week.  We have 14 District Math objectives to master in Fourth Grade.  All year I will be working on algebra, data analysis, probability, patterns and problem solving.

We hope you will expect quality work from your son/daughter. Quality work is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives. When they take pride in what they do...they always due more than they need to. Thanks for all you do to encourage your student to do his/her personal best.

EXTRA CREDIT IS AVAILABLE! Please have your student check with me before beginning their project. It is so important for you to encourage your student to complete extended assignments like these. They teach patience and give the student an opportunity to feel the pride that comes with one's personal best.

Please try to schedule appointments before and after school. Take advantage of the early release days. It is very important that your student be in attendance.

Talk to your child. Listen. What can you do to encourage class participation,  organizational skills and good manners in your child? How often do you read to your child? If you have any questions or would like to share your e mail address with me, I can be reached at sanderson@ccsd.k12.wy.us. You can also leave a voice mail at 686-1778 ext 202 or write me a note in your child's planner.

Your partner in education,
Mrs. Anderson
