On this day in History:

DAILY LOG: I update each morning before school. Therefore, as is often the case in teaching, I don't get as far as I have planned. For this I apologize (most disruptions to the regular schedule are rarely my fault). I will also be updating the previous day's lesson plans each morning to reflect this. Feel free to email me with any questions.

Wednesday, November 18th:

1st period, 8th grade History: Chapter 5 vocabulary.  48 terms due Tuesday.  I gave them the class period to work on them.

2,3,5,6 periods, 7th grade History: 2nd and 3rd periods were assigned the chapte 5 vocabulary.  For 5th and 6th periods we scored the vocabulary for chapter 5.  I also assigned pages 155-158.  We picked up with reading and discussion of Greek Drama.

CLASS RULES:

1. Let me do my job.  Parents may be contacted if student behavior prohibits this.

2. If it's not yours, LEAVE IT ALONE.  Afternoon detentions can be assigned as a consequence.

3. Throwing objects in my room is strictly prohibited. The trash can is not placed in my room for basketball practice.  Afternoon detentions can be assigned as a consequence.

OTHER INFORMATION:

4. Behavior that disturbs the learning of others, unexcused absences, habitual tardiness, or continuing refusal to be in uniform will result in an Unsatisfactory Effort grade. Continued defiance of the rules will harm your class average as well. Nothing upsets me more than one person ruining a class for the other 28 people in the room.

5. Trips to office to use phone are for emergencies ONLY. No exceptions.

6. ALWAYS bring your text, notebook, and pen to class. No exceptions, no excuses.

7. Be seated and ready to work when the tardy bell rings.  Afternoon detentions can be assigned for frequent tardiness.

8. Christ is in every one of us. Be kind and patient with others!

HOMEWORK POLICY:

1st day (due date): If work is missing 50% of assignment score is deducted w/o a parental note as to why the work could not be completed.

2nd day: No excuse is accepted. 10% is awarded as your score if it is turned in.  If students are consistently not turning in work parents can be contacted.

3rd day: No points.  Grade entered as a 0%.

Almost without exception I allow enough time in class for work to be completed.  Often, students are allowed to work with a partner in order to complete these assignments.  Therefore I don't cut students much slack for missing or incomplete work.

EXCEPTIONS: Students missing one day will have a two day grace period to hand in missing work.

In the event of extended absences a time frame will be set up between me and the student/parent as to when the missing assignments are to be turned in.
