Reeds

     Recently there have been many students who do not have a reed for class and cannot perform. This is true more often than not with fifth grade. Please take the time and ask your child if they need one. For your child to grow musically, they need all of the tools.

5^th Grade Band

       This is the time of the year where many fifth graders are lax about band. I need your help to get them organized and ready for the end of the year. Please help me to prepare them and here is how you can:

1. 20% of the students do not have their instruments at school on Monday. Please remind them on Sunday night.

1. 20% do not have a reed to play on. You can go on line at Voigtmusic.com, use a credit card, and order your reeds and they will deliver them to our school.

1. There are many students who are trying to opt out of band during the day to do their home work. The fifth grade teachers and I want them to stay in band to learn the music for the next two events. Your child has made a commitment to the group and when the times get tough, they want to do what is easiest for them. Help me by talking to your child about the commitment they made to the group.

End of the Year Dates

May 10- Jazz Thank-You Breakfast 7:00am

May 14- Spring Band Concert- Grades 5/6

                        Attire: Wear black pants/blue band shirt

                        No blue jeans or tennis shoes

                        Arrive: 6:30pm

May 15- Spring Band Concert- Grades 7/8 and Jazz Band

                        Attire: Wear black pants/blue band shirt

                        No blue jeans or tennis shoes

                        Arrive: 6:30pm

May 28- Memorial Day Parade- Grades 5/6/7/8- 9am

Attire: Blue band shirt/khaki pants or shorts/tennis shoes

June 1- Graduation- Grades 6/7/8- 7pm

                        Attire: Wear something nice. Any colors.

                        No blue jeans or tennis shoes

                        Arrive: 6:30pm

School Rentals for Next Year

As we approach the band information meeting for fourth graders, I am in the process of finding out which instruments will be available to our incoming fifth graders for next year. If you are planning on renting a school instrument for next year, you will need to pay the rental fee and sign the new contract at Registration. Please read the contract before signing. There are many new policies. By paying your fee early, it will ensure that there will be an instrument reserved for your child next year. No instrument will be handed out without the contract being signed and the fee paid.
