![]() Mrs. Falls and Mrs. Herrin & Mrs. McCall's 3rd through 5th Grade Autistic Class Our class serves children from 3rd grade through 5th grade. The hours are 8am to 2pm, Monday through Friday. During the school day, children work on their IEP Goals and Objectives along with participating in age appropriate activities. In our class we use the TEACCH Approach. Students use schedule cards to move from centers and work sessions. Our centers include Computer, Listening, Books, Writing Construction, Hands-On, Play, Art, Puzzles, and Group Time. All students have two kinds of work sessions; Individual and Independent. In Individual Work Sessions, students are taught new skills by the Lead Teacher. During Independent Work Sessions, students work without assistance on mastered skills so that he/she doesn't lose any previously learned skills. Mrs. McCall and Mrs. Herrin oversee Independent Work Sessions to ensure students have not lost any skills. All students work on developmental skills in the areas of fine motor, gross motor, social, self-help and cognitive. Students may also receive Speech, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy. Students can be pulled out of the classroom for these services or served within the classroom. Students can attend Special Areas (Art, Music, Library, Computer Lab, and PE or Adaptive PE) if deemed appropriate in their IEP's. |
