The end of Summer School is here and summer will finally begin for us! 16 of our 20 students attended Summer School and it is time for a break. We have worked on many 1st grade skills: ABC order, story sequencing, unscrambling words, rhyming, comprehension, reading fluency, addition and subtraction skills, and counting money. We have focused on the fairy tales The Gingerbread Man, Little Red Hen, Jack & the Beanstalk, and The 3 Billy Goats Gruff. Journal writing has improved greatly. Please use the Avenues workbook, the Phonics easy readers and review the Sight Word list occasionally over the summer for extra practice. I discovered more websites that will strengthen skills, too: www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies is full of neat activities. Click on stories and rhymes and then click A-Z for many videos of stories we know. www.schoolexpress.com has stories to read. Click on Free Storytime for 25 stories to read. Martin has a birthday on July 6, and David and Eric celebrate birthdays in August. Sam has returned to Korea. Islam is a big brother again; his mother had a little boy last week. Thank you again for a wonderful school year and enjoy this hot and dry summer. Yours Truly, Mrs. Wilson |
