Dear Families, 

The end of the school year is fast approaching and our first graders continue to soar ahead.  Our class really enjoys the daily ABC Countdown To Summer activities -- thank you for helping make this activity such a success.

To help you plan this 'countdown' week:

Monday - Math Day...Our class will enjoy math activities throughout the day.

Tuesday - New Name Day .... The children will create a name plate using a new name they have chosen.

Wednesday - Outside Day ... We are headed outdoors to enjoy reading and learning in the fresh air. (Bring a towel to sit on and a favorite book from home to read outdoors.)

Thursday - Popscicle day .... Our "cool' class will enjoy a cool treat this afternoon provided by Mrs. Toomey.

Friday - Queen for a Day ... The first grade ladies will be treated like royalty today.  Ladies will 'go first' throughout the day.

Please check your child's Friday folder for new weekly spelling lists.  This allows one full week for your child to prepare for his/her test.  A reminder that any misspelled words returned and written correctly will earn extra credit points.  You may access weekly spelling lists by clicking on the 'flashcard' link at the bottom of the page.

Listed below are tentative homework assignments for the week. Please note the children work very hard during the day and often receive a special 'free homework night'.   This special reward means that homework assignments are completed in class.

MONDAY - Spelling Reward Night - no homework!

TUESDAY - Spelling Reward Night -- entire class scored 100% on our spelling test -- HOORAY!!!

WEDNESDAY - Math enrichment activity

THURSDAY- Math practice activity, English Skills activity

FRIDAY -  NO HOMEWORK - HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND!

Our LAST spelling test will be on Friday, May 25.  Spelling lists can be accessed by clicking on 'flashcards' at the bottom of this page.  Our stellar spellers are very excited to complete this last first-grade spelling test!!

A few reminders to help you plan these final days of school:

- The spring music program will be held on Monday at 1:30 p.m. in church.

- No classes on Monday, May 28 in observance of Memorial Day.  God bless all who have served to keep our country free.

- Walk-A-Thon and Field Day will be held on Tuesday, May 29.

- Last day of school for grades 1-7 is Friday, June 8.  Dismissal will be at 10:00 a.m.
