Hello! For all first time visitors, welcome. Our chorus program at CGMS is one of the finest in the region, and we have some exciting events planned for this year. Welcome 2nd quarter new 6th graders. You will hopefully be part of our holiday concert on December 15, and will have a chance to explore many aspects of music and try the guitar! 7th and 8th grade chorus students will continue from 1st quarter through 2nd quarter. Our fall concert was a success, in spite of the flu, and we raised almost $200 through donations. Thanks everyone! Our winter concert is scheduled to be held at Corriher-Lipe Middle School on Tuesday night, December 15, 7:30 PM. More information will follow. Our top 12 singers from 8th grade will participate in the Rowan All-County Chorus on March 12, with the final spring concert for all choruses slated for May 6. Yes that is early this year, in order to avoid conflicts with EOG testing. Our 8th grade combined chorus will attend the Carowinds Music Festival on Saturday, May 22. The CGMS annual talent show will take place on February 16, location TBA. Watch for auditions in January, but start working on your acts NOW! Only legally urchased Karaoke CD's will be allowed! You may not sing along with the artist on the CD, and you may not bring in CDR's that may have been illegally downloaded. We have issues with the sound system not playing the CDR's and also have concerns with copyright law. PLAN NOW to legally purchase your Karaoke CD's on line and have them ready for auditions in January. I am also very excited about our recycling program at CGMS. We now have a "Green Team" dedicated to learning more about how to preserve our environment. We have recycled almost 20,000 pounds of paper, plastic, cardboard, and metal. We are currently collecting cans to donate to Faithful Friends No-Kill Animal Shelter, and creating art sculptures from items that might be otherwise thrown away. We will attend the Recycled Art Fair at CLMS on Thursday, November 5. CGMS Green Team meets on the first and third Thursdays of each month. To all my former students: good luck in high school, college, or in "life!" Stay in touch, and always, ALWAYS, keep a song in your heart. Make this world a little better place for your having been here! Mrs. B. Morris Email address: morrisbl@rss.k12.nc.us "We are what we repeatedly do.
