Hello! For all first time visitors, welcome. Our chorus program at CGMS is one of the finest in the region, and we have some exciting events planned for this year. The top 12 singers from the 8th grade have been selected by audition to participate in the Rowan County Honors Chorus. The following students were chosen, with one singer in each section serving as alternate. Sopranos are Katie Carlton, Bella Hayes, Ivey Pethel, Kendall Lewis, and Camry Wingler. Altos are Amber Allman, Morgan Peninger, Kassie Bass, Elizabeth Simmons, and Madison Fowler. Baritones are Eric Goldston, Alex Reed, Matt Jones, Josh Delinger, and Andrew Mauldin. The concert is free to the public and will be held at Corriher-Lipe Middle School auditorium on March 12 at 6:30 PM. The CGMS 3rd Annual Talent Show will be held on Tuesday night, February 16, at 7:00 PM in the auditorium of Corriher-Lipe Middle School. This is the big fundraiser for our band/choral department. Admission will be a donation of $5. Congratulations go out to the following students who were selected to participate: Reise Absher, Taylor Honeycutt, Nicole Miller, Joe Russell, Kasey Scercy, Josh Quick, Tara Lawver, Tate Dunn, Tyler Riggs, Abygail Rohletter, Brad Hager, Dillon Stevens, McKenna Pate, Sidney Hensley, Megan Richards, and Neydi Ramirez. The acts include vocals, instrumental, dance, and even magic! All contestants need to meet at 4:45 PM in the auditorium on Feb. 16 for a dress rehearsal before the show. Don't miss this very special, wonderful night of entertainment! The spring concert for all choruses will be held on May 6, location TBA. Our 8th grade combined chorus will attend the Carowinds Music Festival on Saturday, May 22. Letters of information have been sent home with students. The deadline for payment is Wednesday, April 21. I am also very excited about our recycling program at CGMS. We now have a "Green Team" dedicated to learning more about how to preserve our environment. We have recycled almost 20,000 pounds of paper, plastic, cardboard, and metal. We are currently collecting cans to donate to Faithful Friends No-Kill Animal Shelter. At our last meeting we visited the computer lab, and experimented with some interesting "green" interactive sites online. CGMS Green Team meets on the first and third Thursdays of each month. Remember to feed the birds!!! To all my former students: good luck in high school, college, or in "life!" Let me know the dates, times, and locations of your concerts. Stay in touch, and always, ALWAYS, keep a song in your heart. Make this world a little better place for your having been here! Mrs. B.
