Happy Fall parents and kindergartners, With the first couple of months under our wing, I can already see such growth and progress with the kindergartners. As I am sure you heard, September brought us that rascally Gingerbread Boy---don't worry, we caught him. The boys and girls did so much super work on comparing different versions, including characters, plot, and setting. October brought our science unit on Pumpkins into the forefront and the children are learning to really think and be "Super Scientists" which are skills that really expand into any area of learning. Our Pumpkin Patch Field Trip was a smashing success and I would like to thank all of my parent helpers so much--you were fantastic. The kids were also really such super listeners and learners, too. Along with academic learning, the children have already become so responsible with bringing their BEAR notebook daily, returning homework, and following rules and procedures in the classroom and on the playground. You and I can be proud of them, and they can be proud of themselves. Another important homework and responsibility builder is the Monthly Reading Logs. Please record at least 20 books on their sheet which you or a sibling has read to them and keep it in their BEAR notebook. This month, I let them all attend the Dr. Seuss party; however, this month's party will only be attended by those who have the reading log completed and in their notebook on the last day of the month. This Friday, October 31 the Halloween Parade will take place (see flyer which came home) and also we will be taking a walking field trip. If you can accompany us on this trip, please let me know ASAP. I need LOTS of helpers since we will be crossing 16th street. We will be leaving school about 10 AM and returning about 10:45 so it will be short and sweet! Fondly, Laura Andreasen
