Week of November 2: Hello, Fifth Grade Parents and Students!
The next Home and School meeting is scheduled for this Wednesday night. Parents attending will be given a "Free Dress" pass for each of their children. The meeting will feature a presentation on Child Protection and Bullying. Book and software orders are due by Thursday. Remember that online ordering is also available. Our weekly Mass on Thursday will be a celebration of Saints and Souls.
Safety Patrol: Team 1 IMPORTANT REMINDERS TO ALL MEMBERS: Remember to pack an extra pair of socks and dry shoes when you are on patrol, just in case of rainy days. Also, be sure that your group has designated the two students responsible for taking down flags in the event of rain during the day - and don't forget to get rain slickers from the office whenever it is raining!
ASSIGNMENTS Week of: November 2 Specific class and homework daily assignments will no longer appear on this page. It is the responsibility of each student to write down assignments as they are posted on the board in class and to be aware of the need to complete unfinished classwork daily. READING: We will cover the story "Wings of the King" this week. Skills emphasized are Main Idea, Author's Purpose, and Cause and Effect. ENGLISH: We continue with the three point writing procedure. The Chapter 4 test will be taken on Tuesday of this week. Students who have not recited the first three stanzas of "The Transition Jingle" should do so this Monday. SOCIAL STUDIES: We are beginning Chapter 5, "The New England Colonies." It is a short chapter of only three lessons. A chapter test will be scheduled for early next week. Students will continue research for the President report , both in class and in the computer lab block this week. SPELLING: Review each lesson from Unit 2. The test on Thursday will consist of five random words and one challenge word from each of the five lessons. Unit 3 work will begin on Friday. PLEASE NOTE: All posted assignments and scheduled tests listed are subject to change due to time limitations and unforeseen circumstances within the course of the school day. Any changes made in class override the schedule that appears on this page. The assignments are posted in the classroom daily. Tests are posted in the classroom for the week. Students who do not complete written classwork during the school day are expected to include the unfinished work as a part of the homework assignment for that evening.
