Week of November 16: Hello, Fifth Grade Parents and Students! NOTES Grandparents' Day is scheduled for Thursday. Students leaving with their guests may be signed out from the classroom that afternoon. Thanksgiving break begins at dismissal on Friday. Students return to class on Monday, November 30. I hope that everyone has a wonderful, blessed holiday.
Safety Patrol: Team 3 IMPORTANT REMINDERS TO ALL MEMBERS: Remember to pack an extra pair of socks and dry shoes when you are on patrol, just in case of rainy days. Also, be sure that your group has designated the two students responsible for taking down flags in the event of rain during the day - and don't forget to get rain slickers from the office whenever it is raining!
ASSIGNMENTS Week of: November 16 READING: We will cover the story "Dinosaurs of Waterhouse Hawkins" this week. Skills emphasized are again Main Idea and Fact and Opinion. ENGLISH: Students will complete Jingle 17 on helping verbs. We will continue with sentence question and answer flows, use of a and an, and contractions. The midway chapter checkup will be completed this week. Writing skills will continue to be practiced. SOCIAL STUDIES: We will continue and complete Chapter 6, with anopen book chapter test scheduled for Thursday. Students will continue research for the President report in class. SPELLING: This week's word list consists of words with various consonant sounds. We will test on Thursday and begin lesson four on Friday.
