The Central Alternative school provides services for Central RIII and West County School Districts.



The Alternative School follows the same calendar as Central School District.





Official grade cards will be sent home by sending school.



**If there is an inclement weather day and school is cancelled there will be no school at the alternative school.

TIER 3 SUMMER SCHOOL SCHEDULE WILL BE JUNE 1-26TH 2009. IF YOU HAVE BEEN ASSIGNED A SUMMER SCHOOL SEAT, YOU HAVE ALREADY BEEN NOTIFIED. IF INTERESTED PLEASE CONTACT THE ALTERNATIVE SCHOOL TO OBTAIN AN APPLICATION.  APPLICATIONS FOR SCHOOL YEAR 2009-2010 ARE BEING ACCEPTED AT THIS TIME. 


DESCRIPTION OF ALTERNATIVE SCHOOL CLASSROOMS:





The TIER 1 program is utilized by Central and serves as a short term assignment for discipline issues.It is now located on the high school campus.



The TIER 2 program is utilized by both districts and serves as a long term placement for continued disciplinary issues, drug/alcohol violations, safe school violations or other placements deemed appropriate by amdininstrators. The students use the A+ learning system (computerized) to complete lessons and earn grades. Students who refuse to be compliant in this setting receive suspension and/or referral to the juvenile detention center.



The TIER 3 program is utilized by both districts. This is an alternative education setting for students who have dropped out of high school and wish to return to earn diploma or for students who are at high risk of not graduating with their class. The qualifications for Tier 3 placement are: student must attend the sending high school for at least 1 semester; be 16 1/2 years old, and be significantly behind in credits. Students work at their own pace to completed needed credits. Upon completion, the student is presented to the Board of Education for approval to receive high school diploma. There is a very strict attendance policy in this program and if violated the student is dropped for non-attendance.
