1. Research people of the Civil War for extra credit (this Friday is the end of the 9-week marking period!).

 

2. Review CW background information for Test on Friday.

 

 

Lesson Plans for the week of 3-09-09

 

1.      Watch short video clip of the Battle of Shiloh, video clip of drummer boys, and read “The Drummer Boy of Shiloh” from the text book (p.5) and complete the historical setting short answer sheet in class while reading.

2.     Read biography of Harriet Tubman, watch short video clip, and read “Harriet Tubman: Guide to Freedom” (p. 132); complete character map of her life and small groups create a book jacket representing the short story read in class.

3.     Read autobiography excerpt of Frederick Douglass (a primary source), watch short video clip, and read an excerpt from “My Bondage, My Freedom” (classroom copy); discuss Douglass’s influence on Lincoln and his contribution to history.

4.     Every day we will continue to focus on improving writing skills through DOL sentences regarding events and people of the Civil War era.

5.    We will have a DOL quiz on Friday and you will be tested on the Civil War facts you have been taught thus far (background and people) on Friday.
