Today will be working on prime and composite numbers and rules of divisibility. Homework -Worksheet C-8/5-1 OR C-8/5-2 Tuesday, November 3rd - We started working on prime factorization written in exponential form. Homework - Practice 4.1 (pg.157 in the text). Wednesday, November 4th - no written homework. Thursday, November 5th - now written homework Friday, November 6th - No written homework. Worked on speed drill and CMT practice problems October 26- October 30, 2009 Monday, October 26th - No written homework. Students that completed the Error Analysis received the corrected work back today. Students took a quiz on powers of 10 and scientific notation. We will begin our unit on Metric tomorrow. GO YANKEES!!!!! Tuesday, October 27th - We have started our unit on metric. Homework - Metric skill - 1-12 only, word search. Wednesday, October 28th - Today we worked on converting units within the metric system. Homework - worksheet Practice 2.7/crossword puzzle on back. Metric Quiz - Friday. Thursday, October 29th - Reviewing for metric quiz (Friday). Homework - worksheet pg 65/page 5 - both sides. Friday, October 30th - no witten homework. Quiz today on metric system. Have a great Halloween and BE SAFE!!!!!! October 19- October 23, 2009 Monday, October 19th - no written homework. I have given back all the tests. Students have an opportunity to their improve their grades by completing an Error Analysis. A copy of this procedure is at the bottom of my school notes page. The Error Analysis is due on Wednesday, October 21st before the end of the day. Tuesday, October 20th - no written homework. Students worked on practice CMT problems Wednesday, October 21st - We are reviewing scientific notation with postive exponents and beginning to work with scientific notation with negative exponents. Homework - worksheet 2-9/2.5 - both sides. Thursday, October 22nd - no written homework. Quiz on Monday on scientific notation and powers of 10. Students reviewed homework on learned Equate. Friday, October 23rd - no school. ***Middle School Dance - Friday, October 30th - permission slip at bottom of page. Tickets will be sold starting Monday, October 26th.*** October 12 - October 16, 2009 Monday, October 12th - NO SCHOOL Tuesday, October 13th - No written homework. Today was test day! Wednesday, October 14th - We worked on multiplying and dividing by powers of 10 - this will lead into scientific notation and working within the metric system. Homework - worksheets B-59 all 3 pages. Thursday, October 15th - We are working on scientific notation with positive exponents. Homework for this evening - worksheet on planets and B-75 Friday, October 16th - no written homework. We worked on CMT practice problems and speed drill. October 5 - October 9, 2009 Monday, October 5th - We are working on dividing decimals. Today we started with dividing a decimal with a whole number also rounding quotients. Homework - worksheet page 36. Tuesday, October 6th - We are continuing with dividing decimals. Today we are going over dviding a decimal by a decimal. Homework is worksheet B-57 Wednesday, October 7th - A test on decimals will be given next week. Tuesday is the target date (10/13). Today we used the skills we have been working on to complete one and two step word problems. Calculators were used (but are not necessary). Homework - complete unfinished classwork. Thursday, October 8th - complete the chapter review worksheet. We are beginning to review for the test (Tuesday, 1013). Students have been given a study guide packet to help them with their review. Friday, October 9th - REMEMBER TO STUDY FOR THE TEST ON DECIMALS ON TUESDAY!!! (sec. 2.1 - 2.4). Homework for tonight - page 94 in the text book (Chapter test), problems 1-17. September 28 - October2, 2009 Monday, September 28th - no written homework. Students have received their Chapter 1 tests back. We were in the computer lab today so we will go over any questions on the test on Tuesday. Tuesday, September 29th - We are beginning our unit on decimals. Today we are doing ordering, comparing and place value Section 2.1 in the text). Homework for tonight - worksheet B-21/Practice 2.1 - both sides. Wednesday, September 30th - Practice 2.2. Ignore any directions that ask for estimation and simply just add or subtract. (Sheets practice B or C, problems 19 -24 ask for front end estimation - ignore and just add or subtract. Thursday, October 1st - We are working on multiplying decimals. Practice 2.3. A pop quiz was given on everything we have done so far in decimals. Friday, October 2nd - Today the students received their quizzes back. We did speed drills and Count Down to CMT problems. Homework for tonight is to complete the decimal review packet. September 21 - 25, 2009 Monday, September 21st - We are working on using formulas - area and perimeter. Homework is Practice 1.6. Chapter 1 test will be either Thursday, 9/24 or Friday, 9/25 - it will depend on how the review is going. Tuesday, September 22nd - Page 44-45 - Chapter Review - problems 13-16, 19, 21, 22, 24, 26. Also the chapter review activity. Test will be on Thursday, 9/24 - Chapter 1, Sections 1.2 -1.6. Wednesday, September 23rd - Homework - page 46 (Chapter test), problems 5-21. Tomorrow is the test on Chapter 1. Study either using examples from your book or going to the textbook web site - classzone.com. Quizzes were returned to the students yesterday. Thursday, September 24th - no written homework. Students were taking their Chapter 1 test. Friday, September 25th - no written homework. Students were completing their tests. Enjoy the weekend,. September 14 - 18, 2009 Monday, September 14th - Working on Sec. 1.4, Order of Operations. Homework - Students have various assignments. Worksheet E- 16 - all problems. Worksheet 2-8 - choose any 12. Worksheet P-16, problems 1-10 and 21, 24. Tuesday, September 15th - Working on order of operations with variables. Complete class work - Practice 1.4. Quiz tomorrow on Sections 1.2 - 1.4. Wednesday, September 16th - no written homework. Class worked on a quiz and a quick presentation about the classzone web site (textbook on line). Thursday, September 17th - no written homework. We are working on a crossmatic puzzle which uses all math skills. Friday, September 18th - no written homework. Students will be in the computer lab working on the Blue Ribbon program. September 7 - 11, 2009 Monday, September 7th - no school Tuesday, September 8th- We worked in section1.2 (pg. 9) in the textbook - Variables and expressions. Homework this evening is worksheet Practice 1.2 Wednesday, September 9th - We are working in section 1.3 (Exponents and Powers). Tonight's homework - Worksheet Practice 2-4 problems 1-18, practice 1.3 (reverse side) worksheet A - 1-20, worksheet B - 1-24 or worksheet C 1-24. Thursday, September 10th - no written homework. We are starting to work on order of operations (sec. 1.4). Friday, September 11th - no written homework. We are learning how to use the graphing calculators (TI - 73). August 31 - September 4, 2009 Monday, August 31st - Welcome Back! Forms and letters that need to be reviewed, signed and returned have been sent home today. Insurance forms, even if you elect not to participate need to be signed and returned along with the emergency contact card and handbook letter. I have sent a letter home outlining my course expectations, discipline policy and various other information. Please review it, sign the second page and return it with your student. Homework for this evening is to complete the math survey. Tuesday, September 1st - complete the picture for "If math were an animal.." Wednesday, September 2nd - no written homework Thursday, September 3rd - Complete first page (problems 1-12) of the "Three Little Pigs". Friday, September 4th - no written homework. However, textbooks have been distributed and need to be covered. PLEASE - NO STRETCHY COVERS. Brown paper bags work great and so does old wrapping paper. Remember Open House for middle school is Tuesday, September 8th at 6:00pm. Parents are to meet in the gymatorium at that time.
