Welcome to Mrs.Doby's Kindergarten Website

Happy New Year!  We are so glad you came to our site.  The students are working hard learning to read and write using letter/sound relationships. It is so important that you help your child to practice their word projects every night.  There are 5 projects that focus on the short vowel sounds a, e, i, o and u.  Also, continue to help your child reach his/her Book It goal by reading their "book in the bag" nightly.  Encourage your child to use their knowledge of letter sounds to sound out each word when reading.  We also encourage them to look at pictures to help them to read.

*We will begin having spelling test in January.  The students will be expected to read and spell 4 high frequency words per week.  Please help them to study nightly.  

In Math we have learned to write numbers 0-12.  Most of the students can write higher.  Some of them can even go all the way to 100!  WOW!  We are also graphing, learning about more and less, and estimating.  We love to learn through hands on experiences.

We will be learning about Martin Luther King Jr. this month.
