SOCIAL STUDIES - GEOGRAPHY



STUDENT SUPPLIES: Pens, pencils, one subject spiral notebook, 1 duotang folder, paper and two dividers. Students must keep all work for each quarter in their folder in preparation for the end of year final exam.


THERE WILL BE A FINAL EXAM IN MAY 2009 THAT WILL TEST EVERYTHING YOU LEARN FROM AUGUST TO MAY.

***LATE WORK RECEIVES A "0" GRADE. ABSENT STUDENTS HAVE 2 DAYS FOR EACH DAY ABSENT TO TURN IN ASSIGNMENTS.***

South America Country Guide


2.    Draw a large map of the country on the paper provided.

3.    Use the Fast Facts Information on pages 130-133, the Atlas on page A12 and the chapter information to get the answers.

4.    Write the answers only to the questions.  The answers go inside the map in the order given. Answers do not have to be in sentences.

1.    What is the name of the capital city?
2.    What are the two main languages spoken in the country? If there is only 1 language listed, just write the one language.
3.    The country is located on what continent?
4.    Who colonized the country? – This is asking who were the Europeans that settled in the country.
5.    Who were the first native people in the country? –  This is asking who were the people living in the country before the Europeans came.
6.    What is one challenge that the country faces today?
7.    Write the names of two neighboring countries.  Write the direction you have to travel to get to those countries.
8.    Write 1 fact about the country’s culture.
9.    Write 1 fact about the country’s economy.
10.    Draw and color the flag of the country.
