Welcome to Mrs. Brennan's language arts page!
****Reminder****
All students should be reading 30 minutes a day for a total of 150 minutes a week. We are encouraging all students to try the "More for the 4" on their weekly reading logs: parents sign the log and students answer an additional question on the back. Let's go above and beyond!
This trimester, students will have many opportunities to read a variety of literature and express themselves through writing. They will learn about the elements of fiction, analyze characters in a work of fiction, write a character analysis, and work hard to improve both their reading and writing skills.
Students have recently completed a five paragraph essay and are now working through the editing and revising process to polish and refine their work. Next week, we will begin a novel study on Freak the Mighty. Students will use their knowledge of the elements of fiction and characterization to complete tasks related to the novel. Discussion will focus on the acceptance of diversity (theme) and author's craft.
