This has been a busy time, but we're about to take our schedule to a WHOLE NEW LEVEL of busy.   Honors Choir members- be prepared.  Please mark these dates and make sure your parents are aware of them, too.

Thursday, Dec. 11:  7:00 P.m.  Honors choir:  Cherokee County Arts Expo performance:  Honors choir, (1 selection); Gaffney and Blacksburg choirs combined (2 selections from Bill Drake show), Blacksburg choir (1 selection)  Be at GHS Chorus room, dressed, ready, at 6:00 P.M.

Since these performances are so close together, I will "check out" uniforms to all students so that they can be washed, cleaned, repaired, etc... between performances.  Students WILL BE HELD RESPONSIBLE for lost or damaged uniforms.

Please remember that we need EVERYONE to be at each performance.  You are graded on attendance, participation, preparation, and presentation.

Student Expectations:

Come into class, get your folder, and report to assigned seat.

Follow directions the first time they are given.

Leave all distractions (gum, candy, phones, games, food, drinks, etc...) in your locker or at home.

Ask permission to speak or leave your seat.

Treat all people and materials with respect.

GRADING POLICIES

All students are graded in four equally weighted categories:  Class Participation, Written work, classroom rehearsal technique (playing or singing) and performances.  Every student begins each Monday with a class participation grade of '100'.  However, during the week, points will be subtracted from that grade as students fail to meet posted expectations.  If any class participation grade falls below an 85 in a week, parents will be notified.

Performances:  Honors Choir is primarily a performing group.  Therefore, all Honors Choir members are expected to attend and participate in all scheduled performances.  We cannot perform our best when all our members are not in attendance.  Failure to attend will result in a concert grade of '0'.  In case of extreme emergency, absences from a performance will be examined on an individual basis.
