First Grade

SPELLING- Your child will be bringing home a list of spelling words each week.  Please spend time at home learning these words each week.  We will have a Pre-spelling test on Thursday of each week, if your child makes 100 they will not have to take the test on Friday.  If your child does not make 100 they will be asked to re-take the test on Friday.  We will record the highest grade from the 2 days.  We will also be sending home a list of high frequency words your child must recognize and spell by the end of the year.  Please DO NOT misplace this sheet.  As your child learns to recognize and spell the word you may highlight it on your paper.  This will allow to keep up with your child's progress in learnig these word.  This is a promotion standard for 1st grade if your child does not meet this goal they may be retained in first grade.  First Grade's writing assessment will be on Oct. 20.  This will be a small moment story.

Keep up the GREAT WORK AT HOME!!   

 WRITING-  D'Nealian handwriting is important!!  Remember, if I can't read it, I can't score it.     

 Kindergarten

WRITING-As we have discussed at conferences, Kindergarten student will soon need to be working on small moment stories and ideas at home.  Our first writing assessment will be Oct. 20,2009. Discuss with your child how to focus in on one small moment.
