Focus of Instruction:
Second Nine Weeks
:

Objectives:

5.03  Use and evaluate algebraic expressions, linear equations or inequalities to solve problems.

1.03  Develop flexibility in solving problems by selecting strategies and using mental computation, calculators or computers, and paper and pencil.

Students will be able to demonstrate the ability to:

Evaluate algebraic expressions involving operations with rational numbers.

Solve one and two step equations with rational numbers.

Solve multi-step equations with variables on one side by combining like terms, and/or using the distributive property.

Translate written descriptions into algebraic symbols to solve problems.

Students may study their math vocabulary by using the "Flashcards" at the top of this page.

Listed below are the five major goals for 7th grade mathematics:

Competency Goal 1: The learner will understand and compute with rational numbers.

Competency Goal 2: The learner will understand and use measurement involving two - and three - dimensional figures.

Competency Goal 3: The learner will understand and use properties and relationships in geometry.

Competency Goal 4: The learner will understand and use graphs and data analysis.

Competency Goal 5: The learner will demonstrate an understanding of linear relations and fundamental algebraic concepts.

Anderson's Mission Statement

I am committed to enable students with the necessary skills to increase their capacity of learning and to help them in determining a value system so they will be able to better function in their regular classroom, in their transition to the high school, and in their journey outside of the classroom.

Five Points of Education

1. Proper, Prior, Planning "Proper preparation and attention to details." (John Wooden)

2. Execute properly "What should never be left to chance is the ability to execute any plan." "Execution is the thing."(Gen. George S. Patton)

3. Make each day your masterpiece "The goal in life is to make the best effort you are capable of doing." "You never fail if you know in your heart that you did the best of which you are capable."(John Wooden)

4. Values and discipline "remain faithful to your own convictions and preserve a private space necessary for personal growth."(Senator Bill Bradley) "If you don't have discipline, you can't have a successful program."(Paul "Bear" Bryant)

5. Flexibility "One does not plan and then try to make circumstances fit those plans. One tries to make plans fit the circumstances."(Gen. George S. Patton)
