Barter Theater (Nov.4 trip) permission form, medical form, and money ($30.00) are due as soon as possible.  You may also include extra money to help those students needing financial aid if you wish.

Schools will be closed on Tuesday November 3rd for Staff Development for faculty and staff.

Week of November 2nd - November 6th


Science: Ch.4 Test on Monday (11/2).  Study of Chapter 7 (Bacteria) will begin on Thursday.

 

Social Studies:   Quiz Tuesday (10/27) over Immigration material.

We will be studying Immigration, Industry, & The Progressive Era over the next 6 weeks.  Students will have several notebook assignments this week and reading to do in An Age of Extremes.  See our calendar link for more information.

Students will also start Current Events this marking period.  Directions follow.  Please send in your spare newspapers.

Current Event Guidelines

Once each six weeks you will find, summarize, and present a current event article about U.S. history.  Follow these guidelines to complete the current event assignment:

 

1.    Choose an article with a topic involving Social Studies in some way from a newspaper, magazine, or the Internet.  Acceptable topics include government, politics, war, laws, and the rights of people.  Keep in mind you will need to explain why you chose this article and how it relates to Social Studies.

 

2.  Write about the article.  Include the following:

n  Summary:  a summary of the main points of the article.  What is the article about?  Use your own words.

n  Response:  your reaction to the article.  What did you learn?  How do you feel about the topic?  How does the article relate to Social Studies?

 

3.    You need to include this article.  Neatly cut or print it off the computer.  Tape or glue it to a piece of paper and staple it behind the response.

 

4.    Prepare a short oral presentation of your current event.  Please do not plan to read your summary or response to us.

 

5.    Make sure your work is edited carefully!

 

6.    Keep track of the due date you chose for your current event.  Write the dates in the spaces below:

3. study probability, use tree diagrams and the Fundamental Counting Principle

4. study mean, median, mode and range

5. collect, analyze, display and interpret data using a variety of graphs

6. make inferences, conjectures and predictions based on a set of data
