News for November from Portable 2

It’s hard to believe that October is over.  We have had such a busy month.  Our class has really enjoyed learning and growing together.

Thanks to the Room Moms, Mrs. Rinehart and Mrs. McCullough, we enjoyed a special harvest treat just before the conference/election break.

This month will be filled with lots of wonderful learning situations, too.  Here are the highlights:

We will begin our first science unit this month, Earth in Space.  Listen for the excitement and interest from your sons and daughters as we begin this fun unit.

In reading we are working in the unit Helping Hands.  We are discovering in our reading how people work together to accomplish their goals.  We will discuss how teamwork is not only helpful but it can also be fun.

In math we will finish up our Place Value, Time and Money Unit and  move on to our  Addition and Subtraction Unit.  Please be sure to practice addition facts and strategies with your child as they are trying to earn their “addition license”.

We will be writing personal narratives in our writing block.  They will be expressing personal ideas and using descriptive language.

Please note that American Education Week is quickly approaching. Please watch Gator Aide for additional details.  I will send home a schedule the week before.  Hope to see you then!

I truly enjoyed meeting with each and every one of you on Conference Day.  Thanks for your patience and cooperation!  Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns throughout the year.
