Welcome to Miss Ventura and Mrs. Blackwell's web page! Please check back often for updates. Be sure to check our calendar for upcoming homework and school events. Also, please make sure to dress your child appropriately for the weather (coat, hat, scarf, gloves or mittens, etc.,) as we do go outside when the weather permits. January 2010 Happy New Year! We hope everyone had a safe and restful winter break. This month, we will be learning about animals in winter, habitats, bears, and football. In math, we will study solid shapes, symmetry, and numbers to 20. Our zoo friends for this month are Umber Umbrella Bird (Uu), Bubba Bear (Bb), and Francy Fish (Ff.) Our popcorn words are in, he, and we. Keep reviewing all popcorn words at home. Your child will need to identify and spell these words by the end of the year. We are beginning to do some writing using the sounds we hear in words, so it is also important that your child is able to recognize capital and lowercase letters, as well being able to make the sound for each letter. Please also be working with your child on writing his or her first and last name correctly, reciting the days of the week in order, and learning his/her address and telephone number. Please remind your child to make good choices at school so he or she can earn tickets! We are having a great school year! Announcements *We will go to Horizons on Friday! *Remember to read with your child every night!
Our Classroom Expectations

Use flash cards for identification of capital and lower case letters, and to practice letter sounds. *Practice popcorn words, letters, and sounds daily with your child. *Have your child practice tying his/her shoes and buttoning/zipping pants and jackets. *Allow for cutting practice at home. *Ask questions and know what your child is studying in school. |
