![]() FIRST GRADE: This year I am working with first grade classes in a combination of pull-out and inclusion in the areas of reading and math. At scheduled times I go in each class and teach leveled reading groups and various reading skills including high frequency words and phonics skills. We have been working hard on developing number sense for whole numbers in math. We're counting by 2's, 5's, and 10's using models, comparing and ordering numbers, and building an understanding of place value (ones, tens). As you can tell first grade students have been very busy! THIRD GRADE: At scheduled times I go in each third grade class to teach small groups of students using leveled readers and to work on a variety of reading comprehension skills. We have worked on cause/effect, making inferences, sequencing, comparing and contrasting, and evaluating. Third graders have also enjoyed reading and writing poems this quarter. Students are reviewing k-2 high frequency words and learning to read and spell the third grade words. First and third grade students are learning and building and understanding of Larry Bell's " 12 Powerful Words. Isenberg will offer FREE Tutoring services to ELIGIBLE students through the Supplemental Educational Services (SES) as we did during the 2008-2009 school year. To learn more about these services please come to our Provider Fair on October 20th. |
