Math

Ways to have a great day:

a) Always have all of your materials in class (journal, glossary, scissors, glue, highlighter, crayons or color pencils, workbook, planner, etc.)

b) Always do your homework.  There is always homework! Weekly Reviews are handed out every Monday.  These should be done daily and should be ready for the teacher to check.

c) Practice your multiplication and division facts.  The more you practice, the better you will get.

We are working on fractions at this time.  The students should be able identify equivalent fractions and should be able to simplify fractions.  We will are also learning how fractions, decimals, and percents are related.

Students:  Be sure to write your assignments in your planner.

Parents:   Be sure to ask about homework.  Also, students will have a weekly synopsis that should be signed.  This can earn your child a bonus point on the Math test each week.  We are working on our Division Facts.  Please help your child learn these so that his/her grade can improve.  We are working on mastering 100 division facts in 5 minutes.  Below are some links to websites that have excellent Math Skill/Drill games.  These are some that we use in the computer lab at school.

Science

We are currently working in Unit 7 of the Louisiana Comprehensive Curriculum (Cycles and Climates).  We will be learning about the Water Cycle and other natural & man-made cycles, Weather, and Climate.  This unit will take about 4 weeks to cover.  The study guide has already been handed out.

Students:  Remember to study 10 minutes every night from the study guide.  Have someone older than you call out questions daily. Be sure to hand in your Reading in Science homework every Friday.

Parents:  Quiz your children often.
