HAPPY NEW YEAR! MRS. STRINGFIELD'S HOMEPAGE Welcome to Mrs. Stringfield's ESOL webpage. I work with the kindergarten, first and fifth grade English Language Learners at Knollwood Elementary School. Almost 40% of our students are English Language Learners. It is a very friendly school where all students are encouraged to be successful. The purpose of the ESOL program is to help the limited English students with their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. By working in small groups many of the students feel more comfortable expressing themselves. It also allows for additional time to work on specific skills that have not been mastered in the classroom. This year the ESOL teachers will be co-teaching with some of the classroom teachers. I will be working with Mrs. Conrad, and Mrs. Cook. The first grade students are completing a unit about families. We are also reading about animal habitats in their classroom. The fifth grade students are reading a novel and working on prefixes and suffixes. During the afternoons I am working with kindergarten students. We will be learning letter sounds through the Zoophonics program. Disclaimer: Linked sites are not under the control of the school district or its employees.
