Thank you for all your hard work this semester!!! To celebrate all that we have accomplished...feel free to bring in treats for your class on Monday. We will be discussing some current events and enjoying our last class together.

Homework Due Dec. 10: Students are to review the 3 activities for the Mayas and Aztecs. After choosing one of the projects, please make sure that you have your thinking map completed for tomorrow. We are going to work on the rest of the activity tomorrow!

Byzantine CFA is scheduled for tomorrow. Please review your notes in your notebook and the notecards at the bottom of the page. Please remember to complete your title page and be prepared to answer 2 academic vocabulary words at the end of the test.

October 29. 2008

Mid-Term is scheduled for tomorrow. Students should be studying: Notebook, Notecards on this website at the bottom, maps, study guide, and study review packet (questions).

The test is made up of 80 Multiple Choice Questions and a written part. Students will be given 4 out the 6 essays listed below and will have to choose 3 to complete. These are WRITTEN answers, but not all in essay form, could mean create a thinking map, fill in a diagram, locate on a map, etc.

1. Compare and contrast the Neolithic and Paleolithic Eras. What were some of the key characteristics of each eras.

2. Why did the first civilizations settle in river valleys? What did the valleys provide the settlers?

3. Be able to identify on a map the location of the 4 earliest river valley civilizations and the 5 rivers they were located near.

4. Describe the characteristics of Greek mythology and how it influenced society and daily life.

5. Organize the social structure of the Roman civilization and be able to give characteristics of each of the classes.

6. Describe the characteristics of the Persian and Pelopponesian War.

All of these were reviewed in class in the book we made.

Homework Due Oct. 16: Please complete one of the following that was already started in class:

The six gods are: Apollo, Jupiter, Minerva, Juno, Venus, Diana

1. After reading the gods packet, compare and contrast two Roman gods by creating a double-bubble. In your Frame of Reference answer the question: How did mythology immpact life of the Romans? Then create a dialogue between the two as if they were having a conversation. Incorporate the gods characteristics.

2. After reading the gods packet, create a flow-map that sequences your opinion on the importance of the Roman gods. (This is your opinion) In your Frame of Reference answer the question: Why did you chose this order? Then create a WANTED: poster as if you were in search of one of the gods. List characteristics, physical features, etc.

3. After reading the gods packet, create a tree map classifying the 6 Roman gods and their important features (characteristics, powers, etc). In your Frame of Referene answer the question: HOw did Mythology impact the life of the Romans? Then create a mythology collage to express roman mythology.
