We are so excited to have Miss Taylor Doss in our room this semester! She is a Student Teacher from Catawba College. Our students are so excited to be working with Miss Doss.

Learning Corner

Reading: We are working on reading simple books and sounding out words to help us read. Children are learning to track print, and find things when reading. In the next weeks of school we will be working on reading simple books and have children point to words as they read. Books will be sent home nightly, please read with your child and send books back to school the next day.

Math:We will be learning the numbers 10-20 this quarter and spending some time with  sorting, patterns, position words, measuring and graphing.

Writing:  Children should be able to write 3 sentences by the end of the year. In writing we are working on labeling pictures and details when drawing.

Sight Words: We will send home the words we are working on when we start to teach them. Each month we will have a few words that the children must master. They must be able to spell, and read the words to fully master them.

Parent's Corner

Don't forget to stop by our Wishing on a Star Board in our classroom.. We have listed supplies on this board that will be needed this school year.

Please sign the agendas every night. Help your child write their first and last name and the letters that we are studying. Also, please send in Baby Wipes and Glue Sticks anytime that you can.

Behavior

Plan

North Rowan Elementary School has chosen to use a school-wide behavior plan this year. Each day your child will start on the color green. They can earn or lose colors and points for their behavior. Please look below for a list of colors and meanings.

Purple: Fantastic

Black: Super

Blue: Great

Green: Good

Yellow: Warning

Orange: Time Out

Red: Office
