Re: Thanksgiving
It seems like our CLC year has just begun, and already Thanksgiving is nearly upon us. You might recall that last year our CLC supported Encuentros Juveniles in their annual Thanksgiving drive to raise food and donations for the poor migrant population of
Again, this year our CLC has decided to respond to the need of this community by offering to collect foodstuffs that will help satisfy the hunger of these people. In doing so, we have stressed to our CLC members that we want them to provide the necessary money to buy the needed assigned goods. In other words, while we would welcome any contribution made by your family, we want our CLC members to contribute from their own personal funds to the purchase of the donated goods. Some may do so through their weekly allowance; others may donate from money they have saved. If your son does not have money from which the goods can be purchased, we would like to encourage you to provide the opportunity for him to earn enough to purchase the goods through chores that are done around the house.
Attached is a list of the needed goods. We would like your sons to bring in the following: For those students in Ms. Campos’ group, Bulk Goods; for students in Dc. O’Malley’s group, Can Goods; and Ms. Davalos’ group, Box Goods.
Because next Tuesday is a holiday and we will be celebrating a school-wide Mass of Thanksgiving on November 25, the only time that we will be meeting before Thanksgiving is on Tuesday, November 18. We would ask that all CLC members bring their goods to be donated that day to our meeting.
In addition, we would like to celebrate Thanksgiving as a CLC community that day and would like to invite our CLC to bring in items to share with one another and to give thanks to God for the blessings that we have received over the past year. As such, we have also attached a list designating an item for your sons to bring with him that day to share with the group.
Finally, we would like to arrange for a gathering of our CLC with their families before the end of the first semester. We will provide more information concerning the event and the date soon.
